Martine van der Loo (1963)
Martine van der Loo (1963) studied flute with Abbie de Quant at the Utrecht Conservatory, where she was awarded her soloist diploma with distinction. Martine began her professional career while still a student as principal flutist with the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra. She was solo flute at the Radio Symphony Orchestra for eight years, and since 1995 has performed as solo flutist with the Residentie Orchestra in The Hague. In addition, Martine van der Loo is a health psychologist and cognitive behavioural therapist. She specializes in mental coaching of professional musicians, conservatory students and advanced amateurs. Her goal is to help musicians to achieve peak performance. As a psychologist in this particular field, Martine has the advantage of being a performing musician herself. She has her own ‘Praktijk voor Musici’ in The Hague.
